When we think of a feathered nest, we think of mama bird and baby birds nestled into a cozy space where they rest, eat, sleep. A place of nurture and love, a place of peace. That feeling is the feathered nest experience. Birds have it, but few of our homes have it. Most home owners want it, but do not know how to achieve it.
For many people, moving into a new home or a rental, or wherever the new home experience may be, once the moving and unpacking is done, nothing further is accomplished. Plunk. There may be a little juggling of things here and there but nothing further. Or you may be a person who bit by bit by bit, over years and years, feathers their nest to create a home environment, with a feeling of relaxation as soon as you enter the front door.
Feathering the nest is the process of creating a home environment that feels cozy, warm, relaxing, comfortable, just right. A place you entertain or work, a place to heal and nurture such as a cozy kids room, or baby nursery, or a room to lounge in.
The concept of interior décor leaves many feeling stressed, unable to accomplish that feathered nest feeling. Look around your home. When you wake in the morning do you think “I just love this room, it’s so cozy and feels so good”… or not. Do you endlessly think “I’d really like to change that” but then never do because you’re not quite sure how or where to start or what it will cost? Then you need us.
Ohhh… but then there is the vicious cycle of shop, purchase, return, shop, purchase, return which can become an endless cycle of trying to get just the right colors, furnishings, accessories, lighting and space functionality. It can be stressful and after the initial fun wears off, plain drudgery! When I visit my favorite home decor stores, I often hear people looking at pictures or mirrors or bedding saying “I bought a nice set but when I got it home it didn’t look right”, or “the picture was just a bit too big and looked odd so I am looking for a different one”. That’s the cycle I mean. This is where an interior decorator really helps!
It does not have to be expensive to have great home décor.
I recently saw a $100 room makeover done by a young interior decorator who literally changed three things in her small, apartment living room, and wow what a difference! Had she not known what to purchase, what colors, what style, what size it would have been a flop, but her $100 makeover just made the room pop, seemed cohesive and cozy. Amazing. I also saw recently a $300 bedroom makeover using thrift store items for a young college student who wanted a funky boho bedroom/homework area. Home décor does not have to be expensive. There are homes with more luxury interiors and they are also very amazing.
Each home is unique, each home’s décor should be to your taste, not someone else’s. If you are budget minded, then budget minded décor it is. If you desire a $250,000 area rug in your home, then that is what we source for you.
Home décor is not really hugely expensive at all (unless that is your choice), and should be kept relative to the owner’s budget. When setting a budget, we strive to fit within it no matter if it’s lux or not. To each his own… but there is a huge difference in whether home décor takes on the trickle effect (taking years to accomplish), or the WOW effect where the room/home you always wanted just pops, done in very little time, anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.
I would love to help you create a beautiful space, whether a living room, a home office, family room, bedroom, nursery or even an entire home, to get that just right look and feel, that just the right overall comfort level for you and your family… along with that “feathered nest” feeling. NOTE: During the COVID crisis I am doing online consultations, so please ask about those.
Isn’t it time to treat yourself and treat your family?
Take the step to transform your home. We would love to help.
